When your custom project requirements include working with unique colors or matching traditional wood tones and existing finishes, DSI’s color matching services ensure your customers get the look they want.
DSI's Wood finish customers realize the benefits of our cutting-edge COROB automated pigment and dye dispenser. This state-of-the art equipment allows for shorter lead times, formula repeatability and color control. DSI's Pittsburgh, Millersburg, Cincinnati and Detroit facilities are all equipped with this technology. Automated high-speed, accurate tint and dye dispensing means decreased lead times. And with dispensers calibrated to 1/384th oz., your stains and pigmented topcoats will be precise.
Plus, each of DSI’s eight locations has an experienced color specialist and a tint room on site. Using a color sample you provide, they take advantage of computer technology to match your hues exactly. And, for shops that require OCS Ohio Certified Stains, DSI is OCS certified.

DSI In-House Color Matching Specialists
Color Specialist Chuck Lipscomb, has more than 35 year of industry experience. “I was taught by experts and I acquired a lot of knowledge spending time working hands-on in the shop. Now, we have color computers that give us exact paint color formulas,” he said. “However, when it comes to matching stains, you really need to have a good eye. That’s where the artistry and the talent come in.”
Chuck uses M. L. Campbell products to produce finishes in quantities from quarts up to 5 gallon buckets. He explained that M.L. Campbell is the “Cadillac” of finishes. “This product line is easy to work with, cost efficient and its wide range of colors allow for any combination.”
A Pennsylvania-based customer who operates his own woodworking and kitchen remodeling business expressed his satisfaction with DSI’s color matching capabilities. “My biggest selling line is partially thanks to the scheme DSI’s color specialist came up with,” he said. “When customers come into my showroom, the DSI-created color is the one they pick the most.”
